Feeling a tad nostalgic and home-sick, here is a trio of bands from the Montréal’ish area…
Firstly, MEN ‘O’ STEEL.
The year, 1996′ish…A friend of my brother came to visit him in Burlington and he brought with him a VHS cassette of videos taped off of MUSIQUE PLUS… The only videos I remember are Sleeping Head Down by Men ‘O’ Steel, and one by Vancouver punk band, dbs.
I looked up to this dude quite a bit back then (he was afterall, the one who gave me my first NOFX cassettes 2 years prior), so clearly I took to these bands as well. It took me some time to track down a copy of Can I Have A Piece? and once I had, it was a constant whilst skating.
As it was a pre-internet (at least for me) time, keeping track of bands was a l’il more difficult then so it wasn’t until WARPED TOUR of like 2001 or so that I (and 5 other people) finally saw ‘em play… and honestly, I was not blown away at all. BUT, they did give me a copy of Stainless and well, download that and Can I Have A Piece? below!!!!
